When digging becomes obsessive
The intention was to clear the overgrown space at the front of the allottment in order to make room for manure deliveries (much needed in the soil we have). Skimming would have not done the job as there was too much raspberry and comfrey root, do a good dig was in order.
Having cleared the desired area, i realised I needed to dig just a little bit further as there was root there too that would quickly invade. Before I knew it I has dug 20 square meters, right up to an established bed. I then thought a second dig would be prudent to make sure that it really was clear of root.
To cut a long story short, 5 dig-overs later, my manure area has now become the best bed on my humble allottment with soil that receives jealous stares from other allottment holders as they pass by. Unfortunately I have no room for manure delivery though. Oh well.
